Duquesne University: Campus Chapel

Duquesne University: Campus Chapel
Pittsburgh, PA

Renovation of the campus chapel to include new interior design, furnishings, and custom millwork for liturgical items, new carpeting, paint scheme, design of a new stained glass window and an addition of a rooftop spire.

Project challenges included re-working the interior of the chapel to meet the modern standards of the new liturgy. The demolition of confessionals, the creation of a proscenium altar which extends into the congregation seating area, and the design of the altar screen sub-dividing the altar to create an intimate space for worship and discussion all helped to modernize the chapel and make it more accessible to the University community.  The new spire amplified the presence of the chapel on the University campus.

Lori Kupfer completed this project while an Associate Architect at Gerard and Nagar Architects.
